Job overview

The Community and Wellbeing network are able to offer an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Assistant to work alongside specialist nurses and in a variety of clinics based at Minerva Health Centre within the Central Lancashire Moving Well service team.

The main purpose of this post is to work as a support to the various clinics that run out of Minerva, working alongside a variety of healthcare professionals, including Consultants, Specialist Nurses and Allied Health Professionals. Ideally applicants will have experience of working within a similar NHS setting, training will be provided to the successful candidate. 

You will also need an enthusiasm for working with patients with complex long term conditions. 

Applications are open to those who meet the person specification currently and are able to demonstrate appropriate experience and knowledge.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as part of the nursing team within the Minerva Health Centre & satellite clinics, supporting the provision of high quality holistic nursing care to patients.
    To support other health care professionals in the provision of high quality care within an outpatient setting.
  • Provide support in busy outpatient clinics for Consultant, Nurse and AHPs. These clinics are mainly Rheumatology and also include Diabetes, Foot Clinic. The clinics are based over two sites Minerva Health Centre and a satellite clinic in Chorley.
  • Stocktaking and ordering of clinical supplies and leaflets using Supply chain and E-Procurement.
  • To perform venepuncture in both a designated clinic and on an adhoc basis.
  • Work in partnership with patients and carers undertaking delegated holistic nursing care as identified in the patient’s care plan and within the agreed boundaries of the role.
  • Plan and organise a delegated workload including extended tasks for which the post holder has been appropriately trained and assessed for competency.
  • Perform and record clinical observations reporting to the registered practitioner as appropriate. This is using computerised records to update details.
