Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen, due to promotion of the post holder, for a Clinical Psychologist to join the Preston CMHT Team.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be joining an enthusiastic team of nine Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Therapist across Central and West Lancashire. CPD, and personal interests are actively encouraged and supported, and appropriate Clinical, Professional and Management supervision, will be provided.
Preston has good motorway links to Manchester, Liverpool and the Lake District. The service takes Trainees from, and has good relationships  with, the local Clinical Psychology Training Courses based in Manchester, Liverpool and Lancaster.Â

*The Welcome Bonus is only available to candidates who are not currently employed (or who have not been employed in the last 12 months) by any NHS provider Trust in the Lancashire & South Cumbria (LSC) Integrated Care System (ICS) in a like-for-like role or core profession. For example, a Band 6 OT / Social Worker / MH Nurse at another Trust in the LSC ICS would not be eligible for the bonus if moving to a Band 6 OT / Social Worker / MH Nurse role at LSCFT or in a role such as Mental Health Practitioner Role that requires the same profession.Â

Bank only workers for Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust are eligible for the scheme if they have not held a substantive role in Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in the last 12 months (subject to all other terms and conditions being met). These incentives are subject to recovery clauses within the first 6 months of employment. This bonus is applicable from 01/07/24 – 31/12/24.
The £7k Welcome Bonus package is designed to attract and retain the very best staff in post. The amount a new starter would receive is shown in the Welcome Bonus Payment Schedule below:
•   £3,000 after 2 months of employment (counted from start date with LSCFT)
•   £2,000 after 12 monthsÂ
•   £2,000 after 24 months

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology
- Two or more distinct psychological therapies
- Lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- An increased level of knowledge equivalent to a post-graduate diploma (in addition to entry level qualification)
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for client’s psychological care and treatment both as a professionally qualified care co-ordinator and also within the context of multidisciplinary care plan
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings
- Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour
- Ability to self reflect and use clinical supervision appropriately

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
