Job overview

Provide an efficient Pension service to all Trust and client employees.

Provide information and guidance to staff in connection with the NHS Pension Scheme, the alternative National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) or another workplace pension scheme.Ìý

Working as part of a team to undertake the preparation, calculation and updating of NHS Pension, NEST or other workplace pension scheme records and payments via ESR and POL in accordance with the pension scheme regulations, the Pension Regulator legislation, Trust’s SFI’s, internal procedures and statutory obligations.

Main duties of the job

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Maintain knowledge and understanding of National and local terms and conditions of service in relation to pensionable pay, escalating any areas requiring clarification as required.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý
Process pension contributions correctly in accordance with required timescales and guidance procedures.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý
Maintain pension records for payment and deductions.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý
Provide advice and guidance on the correct completion of pension documentation when appropriate.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý
Process all retirement benefits which may include age, early retirement, ill health, injury, redundancy, death benefits etc.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý
Process complex manual calculations when appropriate.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Calculate Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme (MARS) entitlement payments in accordance with National Framework and local policies.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý
Process pensions opt out and refund forms accurately and within the published timescales.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý
Process the monthly/weekly Auto Enrolment as required in line with agreed procedures.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Provide information to the Pensions Team Leader, when required to support and ensure the reconciliation of pension records.
• Ensure queries and requests for information received by employees, internal and external stakeholders in relation to pensions are dealt with in a prompt manner and fully resolved, escalating for advice when appropriate.
• Ensure all documentation is filed in accordance with agreed procedures and available for resolving future queries or for audit purposes.
• Maintain understanding of statutory regulations in relation to pensions.
• Provide information, excluding financial advice, to employees on all matters relating to their pension contributions and the NHS Pension Schemes, accurately in a prompt and courteous manner.
• Provide support with pension presentations and awareness sessions to support an increase in employees’ pension knowledge and understanding.
• Identify and report any areas of improvement along with making suggestions and ideas for further consideration

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE’s grades A-C including Maths and English or equivalent level experience
  • NVQ Level 4, Certificate in Payroll Management or equivalent level of experience
Desirable criteria
  • CIPP Level 3 or equivalent level of experience
  • Qualification in Public Sector Pensions Admin

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 1 Year working with NHS Pension Schemes
  • Electronic Staff Record (ESR) Experience
  • Pensions Online (POL) Experience
  • Customer service environment experience
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of NEST Policy & Procedures
  • NHS Payroll Experience
