Please note, this advert is just for Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) vacancies at the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) ONLY and the Endoscopy Unit based at the LGH.
As a Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW), You will carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare, or therapeutic tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the Registered Practitioner, in accordance with the Trust values.
Experience in the health care setting is essential
Training will be provided to ensure you have the required core skills for a Band 3 HCSW in your area of work. You will also be supported to obtain a Care Certificate.

Both full and part time posts are available. Shifts include a mixture of days, nights, weekend shifts and Bank holidays. Flexible working is promoted to encourage work/life balance however this would need to meet the service needs of the area. Please identify these needs at interview to ensure your request can be supported accordingly.
Standardised hours of work for patient wards are as follows (the vast majority of wards work long days / nights)
· Long Day: 07.30 - 20.00
· Night: 19.30 - 08.00
· Short shifts: Early and late shifts available in some limited areas.

Main duties of the job
What will you be doing?
- The Healthcare Assistant will be an integral member of the ward / department team working through close but not direct supervision of a registered practitioner.
- The Senior Health Care Assistant is responsible for providing personal and clinical care, undertaking clinical observations and other interventions as delegated by the registered practitioner and in accordance with existing competencies.
- The Senior Health Care Assistant will ensure that their practice is guided by standard operating procedures and established policies and guidelines. They will demonstrate self-directed development, recognizing own limitations, and work within the scope of their role at all times
