The University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust is based across three sites in the exciting, multicultural city of Leicester, in the heart of England. Leicester is a multi-cultural City which has robust transport links to all parts of the country.Ìý It has a lively city centre with restaurants, bars and shopping.Ìý
The Trust is one of the largest tertiary cardiac departments in the UK providing a full range of standard and complex, invasive and non-invasive diagnostic tests, and routinely performing complex interventional techniques on adult and congenital patients. As a local specialist provider we implant over 900 pacemakers and over 200 ICD’s per year, including 150 biventricular devices which are all followed up in our devices clinic.ÌýIn addition we have two dedicated EP labs where we perform over 700 procedures per year including complex AF and VT ablation using the Carto, Ensite X and Rhythmia mapping systems and newer technologies such as PFA.
Main duties of the job
Candidates will have BHRS accreditation or IBHRE exam and a minimum of three years experience post BSc Healthcare Science (or equivalent) qualification
The successful candidate will work on a rotational basis between the devices clinic and the angiocatheter suite. ÌýYou will manage your own daily caseload and assist in the development of all areas of the cardiac rhythm management service.

ÌýThe department runs a 24/7 primary PCI service so participation on the on call rota is a key requirement of this role. The Trust is working towards 7 day working so the successful applicant will be expected to work weekends, bank holidays and evenings as part of their shift patterns.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Ìý
To provide a highly specialist, clinical technical service in the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) sections of the department and be a lead specialist in these areas.Ìý
To assist in the development of all areas of the Cardiac Rhythm Management Service.
Responsible for the day-to-day management of the area in which they are working.
Provide specialist training of Cardiac Physiology staff under the direction of the Senior Chief Cardiac Physiologist
ÌýDeputise for the Senior Chief Cardiac Physiologist in their absence.
Participate in the catheter lab on-call rota.
Participate in 7 days working including weekends, evenings and Bank Holidays if required
Supervise less experienced staff in own area of work, so maintaining the service
Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring a quality service is maintained to patients, general practitioners, and clinicians across the three sites.
Ensure effective/timely two-way communication takes place between all sections of the department, maintaining close liaison between all three sites of the department and wider multi-disciplinary teams.

Training and qualifications
Essential criteria
- MSc (STP) in CRM or BSC in Healthcare science (Cardiac Physiology) or BSc Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent relevant qualification
- IBHRE EPS/pacing or BHRS accreditation in EPS or devices
- Adult ILS
Desirable criteria
- ILM level 3 or higher
- ASCST part I & II
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 3 Years post BSc qualification experience as a Cardiac Physiologist
