Exciting post on a busy but rewarding Oncology / HaematologyÌý day case unit. Osborne Treatment Centre isÌýlooking to recruit a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse.

The successful candidate will be joining an established team with a record of excellence and innovative practices. The department provides outpatient treatment, triage assessment and follow up care for patients with Haematological and Oncological conditions.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse with clinical experience within haematology/oncology nursing. You will be able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills in Haematology/Oncology Ìýnursing care and have a passion for this specialty. Knowledge and skills in the safe administration of SACT, care of CVAD'S and other associated supportive treatments is Ìýessential. As is deputising for the Senior Sister in their absence.

You will be expected to work as part of a team as well as autonomously. Also on call on a rota basis is required once competence in apheresis is obtained.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of evidence based nursing care to a group of patients.

  • Leadership and supervision of others carrying out all aspects of the caring process.

  • Deputise and take charge of the given area regularly in the absence of the Sister / Charge Nurse who has 24hour accountability and responsibility.

    Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.

  • Participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the ward team.

  • Share responsibility with the Ward Manager to ensure that the highest standards of infection prevention and control are practiced at all times.

  • Take due regard of the importance of the effect and consequence of the ward /care environment with regard to its physical, psychological and social effects on patients and care delivery.

  • Ensure that the delivery of care to own patients and for all patients when in charge meet the standards determined by the Ward/Unit Manager and the Standards for Better Health.
