Job overview

  • Basic clerical and reception duties including using Radiology computer systems
  • To assist patients prior to, during, and after the examination including being able to give the patient a basic explanation of procedures
  • Assist in the safe discharge of the patient from the department
  • Ensure accuracy of patient and examination details
  • Assist in the cleaning and preparation of the room prior to and post procedure
  • Liaise with other departments and wards to ensure effective communication
  • Ensure mandatory training is up to date and remain updated with new developments and policies
  • Expected to undertake Care Certificate

Main duties of the job

  • Carry out duties as assigned: involving patient care, welfare: assisting the Radiology team where appropriate.
  • To assist patients prior to, during, and after the examination including being able to give the patient a basic explanation of procedures
  • Assist in the safe discharge of the patient from the department
  • Assist in the cleaning and preparation of the room prior to and post procedure
  • Assist with Interventional procedures.
  • Ensure the maintenance of patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Dependent on your base site, you will perform post procedure monitoring including ECG, blood pressure measurement, and capillary blood glucose measurement: all in accordance with relevant policies and procedures
  • Co-ordinating inpatient waitlists
  • To undertake the insertion of cannula in compliance with Imaging Service protocol, following training, and if required by the role.
  • To assist with fluoroscopy procedures and/or biopsies to include preparing of trolleys and/or assisting during the procedure and/or post procedural monitoring of patients. To undertake wound care, as required.
  • To be responsible for stock levels by monitoring, ordering stock when required and checking areas for out of date stock. Also to check deliveries against stock orders to ensure and auditable system.
  • Support the service by only undertaking work that is within own skill level and competence.

  • Adhere to infection control measures and perform the cleaning of equipment post procedure in line with relevant protocols and policies.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • To have attained a broad education - minimum 3 GCSEs Grade C or above or equivalent
  • To have a good understanding and the ability to communicate in English both written and spoken
  • Commitment to study for Apprenticeship Level 3 qualification or equivalent within a determined timescale
Desirable criteria
  • GCSE English or equivalent
  • Care Certificate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with people in either paid employment or in a voluntary capacity
  • Minimum of 12 months in Health Care
Desirable criteria
  • Basic Administration Skills
