Do you want to develop your Urology skills and knowledge or are a urology nurse already?

Are you an enthusiastic emergency nurse looking for a challenge in our 24/7 emergency admissions unit?

Or do you aspire to be an expert in the management of the complex urological surgical patient?

We currently are lucky enough to have a band 6 vacancy across the unit and would be interested to hear from anyone who has an interest/experience in urology and are ready for the challenge of a band 6 post.

If you are an experienced nurse preferably withÌý urologyÌý & triaging knowledge and skill, are enthusiastic and passionate about nursing, then why not be part of our new expanding post reconfiguration urology unit.

Ward 29 is our dedicated 14 bedded emergency admission ward and triage area which accepts urological referrals 24/7. We are the busiest urology admissions unit in the UK currently and are looking for dynamic individuals to assist in implementing nurse led discharge, community patient pathways and generally fulfil the role of a deputy Sister.

You must be able to work on your own initiative, be forward thinking with good prioritisation and organisational skills and have the desire to be part of an expanding nursing team who are at the forefront of ever developing Nurse-led services. Excellent communication skills are key not only to improving your patients experience but also to contribute towards effective teamwork.

We are dedicated to invest our time in developing you professionally as an individual. ÌýYou will have your own personal support through the specialist nurse team and consultant body in order to meet your own development needs.

  • Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of evidence based nursing care to a group of patients

  • Leadership and supervision of others carrying out all aspects of the caring process.

  • Deputise and take charge of the given area regularly in the absence of the Sister / Charge Nurse who has 24 hour accountability and responsibility.

  • Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.

  • Participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the ward team.

  • Actively contribute to the improvement of services and the quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users and their families.

  • Act as a role model, mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff.

  • Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý ÌýPromote the development of new services within the ward area and assist the Sister / Charge Nurse to implement change.

  • Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Maintain efficient and effective communication with the Sister / Charge Nurse, the multidisciplinary team and the Matron on issues related to patient care, ward management and organisation.

  • Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý ÌýParticipate in staff recruitment and selection processes and wider recruitment and retention strategies.

  • Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý ÌýAct in a Professional manner and ensure self and ward staff adhere to the UHL Uniform policy.
