Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Senior Audiologist, who has a particular interest in Paediatric Audiology. You will hold a BSc Healthcare Science (Audiology) or equivalent qualification and a听Professional registration with HCPC or AHCS.

You should have excellent communication skills, be innovative and flexible. You must be a team player with a broad range of paediatric experience. This role would provide you with an excellent opportunity to consolidate your knowledge and gain new clinical skills within a supportive, friendly environment.

The post holder will work to provide and perform audiology test procedures efficiently and effectively within current guidelines, adhering to best practice audiology techniques and providing expertise to ensure the appropriate examination of patients.

This role involves working with multidisciplinary teams and liaising with ULHT departments to ensure the Organisations standards are met.听

The post holder will be working Trust Wide听 as part of the role.听

Note: This vacancy will have a start date after 01/07/2025

Main duties of the job

The post holder will;

Work as an independent practitioner providing routine and specialist clinical services to Children and Adults including;

Audiological assessment听

Interpretation of results to decide on future management plans

Verifying hearing aid prescriptions using probe tube microphone measurements

Providing detailed advice to service users and colleagues

Supporting other areas which may include audiovestibular testing, tinnitus, adults with learning difficulties, dementia care, hearing therapy, adult rehabilitation

Act as a mentor and/or supervisor for more junior members and trainees within the team听

Paediatric hearing assessment, including age appropriate testing using the most suitable combination of clinical tests. This could include behavioural testing (i.e VRA) as well as objective testing (i.e OAE).

Performing advanced electro-medical and clinical tests.

Advanced auditory assessment; non-organic hearing loss, use of objective measures.

Work with the department to maintain standards and develop the service by;

Assisting the Head of Service/Chief Audiologist to manage changes in practice. Propose changes to working practices or procedures

Ensure departmental guidelines and Trust policies are followed

Assist with and lead audit projects of agreed elements of the service

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining the high standards required by the service and will evidence their continued professional development.听

Working for our organisation

Lincoln Hospital is a thriving university city and with the opening of the medical school, it provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status, after demonstrating evidence to significant teaching commitment. 听From now on it will be known as United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Pilgrim Hospital is situated in beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.

Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc Healthcare Science (Audiology) or equivalent.
  • Professional registration with HCPC or AHCS.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of further training in a specialist area of Audiology.
  • Clinical MSc in Audiology related subject

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience working within an NHS Audiology service.
  • Significant experience managing patients with complex auditory needs.
  • Significant experience in paediatric audiology 鈥 diagnostics and rehabilitation.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Practice Navigator or Auditbase
  • Experience of a wide range of Hearing Aid technology.
  • Knowledge of NHS service provision and pathways.

Skills, Knowledge and Aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • Significant and recent experience in objective testing of complex and non-complex children and adults with hearing loss (including profound), associated communication difficulties and obscure auditory processing disorders
  • Evidence of an ability to interpret and explain contemporary paediatric research to lay and professional audiences.
  • To evidence a genuine interest in paediatric audiology
  • Significant and recent experience in paediatric patients
  • Experience of joint working with colleagues for other agencies eg education and social care.
  • Detailed knowledge and significant recent practical experience of hearing and verification methods, such as real ear measures, questionnaire assessment and speech testing.
  • Awareness and Knowledge of the dignity in care agenda
  • Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework

Specific Requirements

  • Required to work in other areas of the Trust or Trustwide as and when required to do so.
  • To hold a clean, current driving licence
  • Self-motivated
