Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a full time (1.0 WTE) Band 5 dietitian to join our inpatient team at Lincoln County Hospital. This would suit someone looking to further develop their dietetic skills and gain experience working with service users with a range of health conditions. The hospital services covered would include: surgery, frailty, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, medical, neurology and oncology. Dietary recommendations can include the use of nutritional supplements and enteral feeding. There is also the opportunity to provide a dietetic outpatient clinic, which would give further variety in dietary management and professional development. There would be regular support with personal development goals and clinical supervision. This role will involve team working and providing training for health professionals and students.听

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills. They will be responsible for managing their own workload, including听 a caseload of patients. This will involve using professional development opportunities to regularly updating their clinical knowledge and skills. They should have a compassionate and pro-active approach to patient-centred dietetic care and when contributing to service development/audit. They will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team.听

Working for our organisation

Pilgrim Hospital is situated beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.

Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.

Lincoln Hospital is a thriving university city and with the opening of the medical school, it provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status, after demonstrating evidence to significant teaching commitment. 听From now on it will be known as United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

Essential criteria
  • BSc in Dietetics or Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics (this may be nearing completion)
  • Eligible for HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
  • HCPC registered
  • Facilitation of Learning training
  • Membership of the BDA
  • Additional training in a relevant area, for example FODMAP, IBS, Coeliac disease

Specific requirement
