An exciting opportunity has arisen to join United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust (ULTH) as a Consultant in Accident and Emergency Department at Lincoln County Hospital.听 听
There is no better time to join our Trust as we have now been awarded Teaching Hospital Status. 听 听听
We are currently recruiting for substantive consultant posts in our Emergency Medicine听at United Lincolnshire Hospitals.听 We are looking for consultants to provide the highest quality of care to each individual patient who attends the department. The appointee will be required to work in a 1:15 on call rota with a 1:5 weekend frequency. The job plan will be aligned to a 85% DCC and 15% SPA split.听

Main duties of the job
The Appointee will be expected, in conjunction with his / her colleagues, to provide a comprehensive clinical, supervisory, educational and training support to the Emergency Department.
This is a substantive full time Consultant post in our Emergency Medicine department for the United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust (ULTH).听 The purpose of this post is to ensure the highest quality of care is provided to each individual patient who attends the department.听 The on call supplement is currently category A and is classed as high frequency with an on call availability supplement of 8% currently payable. If the person appointed elects to undertake a part time contract, he / she will be required to devote substantially the whole of his / her professional time to the duties of the post and to give them priority at all times.听
Any applicant who is unable for personal reasons to work full time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
In addition, he / she will be required to:
路听听听听听听 Collaborate and work to maintain emergency medicine in line with strategic requirements
路听听听听听听 Provide with colleagues in this specialty, routine and emergency services to the Trust Direct clinical supervision and training of the emergency department junior medical and nursing staff
路听听听听听听 Participate in the development of emergency department treatment protocols in conjunction with specialty colleagues as appropriate
路听听听听听听 Take the lead and responsibility for the professional supervision and appraisal of junior medical staff in conjunction with colleagues
路听听听听听听 To participate in the training and assessment of Specialist Registrars/ST Grade doctors rotating through the department
路听听听听听听 To maintain and develop good communication with colleagues from other specialities and the Primary Care Trust.
- Demonstrate a firm commitment to the principles of clinical governance including:
- Developing and maintaining appropriate systems and practices to ensure effective clinical audit in emergency medicine
- Attending and contributing to the Trust Clinical Governance Programme
- Participate in the Trust Clinical Incident Reporting System
- Developing a programme of personal CPD within available resources and within the work load and priorities of the service.
- He/she will be encouraged to develop a special interest to complement those of the existing consultants in the specialty and in accordance with Trust Policies.
- He/she will also develop appropriate services and techniques required to fulfil clinical needs within the available resources.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Do you have full GMC Registration with licence to practice
- Do you have CCT in Emergency Medicine or equivalent (or expected within 6 months of interview).
- Do you have FRCEM or equivalent qualification
- Do you have ALS certification
Desirable criteria
- Do you have a leadership or teaching qualification
- Do you have Instructor status in advanced life support course
Clinical Experience
Essential criteria
- Do you have a broad range of relevant experience in Emergency Medicine
- Do you have experience of leading & working in multi-disciplinary & multi-professional team
- Do you have the ability to supervise, appraise, coach and mentor trainees and other doctors.
Clinical Governance
Essential criteria
- Do you have a thorough and detailed knowledge of medical audit
- Do you have a thorough and detailed knowledge of complaints management
- Do you have a thorough and detailed knowledge Morbidity and Mortality meetings
