An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Dispensary Manager to join RM Medicines.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and leading the dispensary team with aim of delivering a high-quality outpatient pharmacy service to patients at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.Ìý

RM Medicines is a wholly owned subsidiary, created by The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust to provide outpatient pharmacy services, focussed on ensuring efficient and safe supply of medicines to patients.ÌýÌýÌý

Individuals recruited to the RM Medicines team will be supported to provide expert care to oncology patients and will benefit from training and the learning experiences of working closely with an institute providing outstanding, leading-edge treatment to cancer patients.

This post would suit a candidate with Community pharmacy or Outpatient pharmacy management experience.

Main duties of the job

  • To lead on the efficient and effective delivery of all aspects of a high quality Outpatient Pharmacy service to patients and users by maintaining a high standard of professionalism and safety in accordance with legislation, General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) legislation, applicable Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Professional standards and recognised good practice.Ìý
  • To contribute to the optimisation and development of the Outpatient Pharmacy.
  • To lead on improvement audits, investigation of errors and implement identified service improvement when necessary.
  • To work collaboratively and supportively with the Site lead and deputise in their absence when necessary.
  • Be the responsible Pharmacist as per GPhC regulations when required.
  • To contribute to the efficient management and administration of the business.

  • To ensure that operational requirements of the pharmacy are met for service delivery during operating hours.
  • To provide clinical and professional leadership and advice to all pharmacy staff working for RM Medicines.
  • To provide operational and professional leadership to all staff working in the dispensary within RM Medicines.
  • To commit to flexible working patterns (late evenings, weekends & bank holidays) to meet the needs of the patients and service.
  • Support with the review and implementation of SOPs, standards and guidelines.
  • To ensure an effective appraisal process for those staff that are directly line managed.
  • To be responsible for recruitment, selection and development of all pharmacy staff, as required.
  • To act as the Practice Supervisor for all staff training in the dispensary.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Qualified and registered pharmacist with GPhC
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical pharmacy diploma or equivalent
  • Specialist certification / further education or equivalent in oncology
  • Educational Supervisor Certification or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post-registration pharmacy and management experience
  • Experience of delivering education & training to pharmacy staff
  • Experience of managing services and people
  • Experience of working effectively within multi-disciplinary groups
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working in an Outpatient Pharmacy setting
  • Experience of management of change processes and implementation of service development projects
  • Experience of mentorship, assessment and training skills
  • Experience with EPIC and Powergate computer systems
  • Oncology pharmacy experience
