Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated band 7 pharmacist to join our team at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.Ìý
The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You should have hospital pharmacy experience. Previous ophthalmicÌý and high-cost medicines therapies pharmacy experience is not required; however, a solid background in clinical pharmacy and experience in managing staff would be desirable.

Main duties of the job

ÌýThe post holder will:
• Ìý ÌýSupport the Senior Pharmacists in the delivery and development of high-cost medicines therapies,Ìý clinical Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation services across the division.
• Ìý ÌýProvide specialist pharmaceutical advice on the safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medicines.
• Ìý ÌýUndertake regular audit to monitor and promote adherence to local and national guidance.
• Ìý ÌýTo support and develop Trainee Pharmacists, Band 6 Pharmacists and other Pharmacy staff as appropriate.
• Ìý ÌýWork with the Associate Chief Pharmacists, Lead Pharmacists, Nursing and Clinical Leads and relevant Pharmacy Leads on service developments and improvements to ensure that Pharmacy services meet the needs of the users.
• Ìý ÌýManage the operational running of the Pharmacy servicesÌý and high-cost medicines therapies across Moorfields South ensuring that the network site pharmacies are adequately staffed and arranging for operational cover across the network sites as required.

Education / Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Taught Masters Degree in Pharmacy (4 years) or equivalent
  • 1 year pre-registration training
  • Member of The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate diploma/MSc in pharmacy practice or equivalent
  • Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of providing a specialised clinical pharmacy service
  • Previous experience in supervising and managing pharmacy staff
  • Previous experience of mentoring & training
  • Clinical Audit experience
  • Good understanding of admission & discharge processes in hospital
  • Policy/Procedure/ Guideline development
Desirable criteria
  • Ophthalmology pharmacy experience
  • Previous experience in managing a dispensary service
  • • Previous experience of providing a specialised pharmacy service within homecare services or High-Cost drugs

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates good general pharmaceutical & clinical knowledge
  • Understanding of medicines Optimisation
