Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic occupational therapist to join our dynamic Therapy Services Team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The post includes six-month rotations across the following areas:
- Neurosciences
- Trauma & Orthopaedics
- Respiratory & Critical Care
- Medicine & Surgery
- Health Services for Elderly People
- Rapid Response
- Renal & Urology
The rotations give you the opportunity to work across a wide range of clinical specialties, to develop core occupational therapy skills in order to carry out complex occupational therapy assessments of functional ability, cognition, home situation and psychosocial issues. You will be a key member of a large multi-disciplinary team, working together in the best interests of the patients. You will be supported by a highly structured programme of learning and induction and experienced senior occupational therapists.

The Therapies team at the Royal Free are truly inter-disciplinary with a strong emphasis on supportive supervision, an active learning environment and a focus on staff welfare and teamwork using the 鈥淲hat matters to you?鈥 framework. We have a varied and comprehensive programme of therapy in-service training and our Therapies Education Team have recently expanded to further support access to ongoing education, courses, and CPD. We are also well supported by our Therapies Research and Development Team, and we currently are engaged in several formal external research projects, which includes opportunities for additional research training at Band 6 level.
We would welcome applications from newly qualified and experienced occupational therapists. Excellent communication skills, a solution-focused approach, and a commitment to continuing professional development are essential to this position.

Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- HPC Registration in OT

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience Of Occupational Therapy during employment or fieldwork placement such as : o Carrying out OT assessments o Planning and implementing OT treatment programmes o Ability to review and relate progress to the agreed goals/outcomes o Management of a caseload o Experience of Occupational Therapy in the acute setting
- Appreciation and understanding of OT Core Skills
- Appreciation and understanding of OT process
- Sound knowledge of professional standards and legal framework affecting practice
- Working knowledge of the role of other professionals and agencies
- Able to promote good liaison with MDT
- Ability to use supervision appropriately
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to take responsibility and use initiative
- Basic IT skills including use of Microsoft Windows functions
- Professional fluency in written and oral English
