Specialist Podiatrist

Band 6

West London NHS Trust provides a full range of mental health, community and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

We also provide some specialistservices that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

Job overview

We are offering a Band 6 post suitable for a highly motivated podiatrist, who is passionate about their profession and enjoys making a difference to people’s lives.

We welcome applications from clinicians currently working at band 5 or 6. Ideally you will have at least two years' NHS experience and be confident in all aspects of podiatry care.

You will provide high quality podiatric care, for people with pathological foot conditions and those at risk of developing serious foot health complications. There is emphasis on diabetes foot protection as the population we serve has a very high incidence of diabetes. You will also have the opportunity to join our nail surgery rota and get involved in the research we are currently undertaking.

You will have the support of our friendly experienced clinicians, who are committed to providing excellent clinical care, which is patient centred and compassionate

The service works closely with district nursing teams, tissue viability nurses, and local integrated teams. as well as linking with the wider MDT and PCN networks. We have a direct pathway into the Diabetic Foot Clinic at West Middlesex Univerity Hospital.

Main duties of the job

You will need a podiatry degree, local anaesthetic certificate and HCPC registration

In our vibrant and multi-cultural community, you will work from well equipped clinic sites delivering care close to home. You will assess, diagnose, and provide high quality podiatric care to people with complex foot health needs and lower limbs that are at risk. There is emphasis on diabetes foot protection due to the high incidence of diabetes in the population we serve.

You will be responsible for agreeing care plans with patients that support self-management and optimise foot health, in line with service priorities.

You will be required to visit housebound patients in their own homes, so you must be able to drive and have access to a car to support their needs.

You will work autonomously as well as alongside others, so you need to be flexible and well organised and great at teamworking. You will also need excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with our diverse patient population and with various other health care teams and stakeholders.
