Job overview

A vacancy has arisen for a Band 3 Dietetic Support Worker in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Whipps Cross Hospital. The post provides support to both the Adult and Paediatric Dietetic teams in a clinical capacity (including both inpatient and outpatient work) and with administrative duties.Ìý

The clinical aspects of the post are supervised by the team of Adult Dietitians and support workers. There is a well established competency based training programme in place with the aim of enabling the successful applicant to support our patient group by providing excellence in dietetic care. Support for the administrative aspects of the role is available from Dietitians and Support workers in post as well as administrative post holders within the wider Therapies teams at Whipps Cross University hospital. The position involves working on a computer, at ward level with patients, staff and families and telephone work utilising a broad range of skills and ensuring that no two days are the same. Good computer and communication skills are of the utmost importance in this busy post.Ìý

This position is vital to the Dietetic Services at Whipps Cross and applicants should have a strong desire to work within nutrition in a caring role. This post would provide a great opportunity for a variety of people including those already at this grade, starting out, returning to the workforce or wishing for a change in direction. The successful applicant for this position will be made welcome and work flexibly as part of our teams. The right candidate should find this role an exciting challenge. The Whipps Cross Hospital Dietetic services for adults and paediatrics are part of the broader Barts Health Dietetic services and so there is a requirement to travel between all sites for sharing of information and service planning.

Essential criteria
  • Qualification or equivalent experience and demonstrable skill in the use of IT packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Evidence of organisational abilities in a current or previous role
  • To be able to demonstrate working in fast paced environment where unexpected changes to your daily plan have been necessary
  • Experience of working well within a team
  • Ability to demonstrate proactive approach in the workplace
  • Experience of working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated interest in working with vulnerable people
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using Healthroster
  • Experience of using CRS.
  • Administration experience.

  • Interest in nutrition and awareness of the role of the dietitian

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • O Level/ GCSE equivalent in Maths and English
