Locum Consultant Interventional Radiologist
Locum Consultant
Job overview
Applications are invited for one full-time (1.0 WTE) Locum Consultant Interventional Radiologist post which has arisen to cover service needs for 12 month fixed term.听
The successful candidate will have completed formal training in diagnostic and interventional radiology and will have experience in the following techniques: general vascular and endovascular procedures, reno-vascular interventions including dialysis access, gastro-intestinal, HPB and urological interventions.听
The candidate will require experience in embolisation to support the on-call service (e.g, aortic interventions, GI bleeding, trauma embolisation, uterine artery embolisation for post-partum haemorrhage etc.).
The candidate should be able to perform aortic and peripheral arterial as well as venous interventions to support the current service demand at St Mary鈥檚 Hospital.听
Rapid access to imaging and scan turnaround times, whilst delivering a safe and high quality service are key priorities.听
A further key objective of the directorate is to provide robust radiology trainee supervision and it is anticipated that the post holder will make an active contribution to this.听
The applicants must hold their CCT in Interventional Radiology, be on the GMC Speciality Register, or be within 6 months of being granted a CCT.
Main duties of the job
The post will allow for maintenance of the IR service resilience across three sites, particularly at the CXH/HH sites which has enhanced service delivery and thereby reduced waiting times for the renal vascular service at HH, cancer services on both sites and the urology service at CXH.听
Small tumour ablation service is well established and there is an opportunity to be involved in the ablation service. This will improve waiting times for treatment of small cancers, improve 18 week RTT performance and thereby improve the quality of patient care. This is also a Cancer Services priority.听
Assistance to the overall radiology team in the delivery of the cross-site 鈥渄uty鈥 rota which is in place to support rapid IP/ED reporting performance and trainee supervision.听
The post will be split between St Mary鈥檚 Hospital and Hammersmith with some flexible working at Charing Cross Hospitals as required.听
The appointee will be expected to contribute to the general reporting work in the department, including CT/MRI and plain radiographs. 听
The post holder will also be required to join an on-call rota for out of hour鈥檚 emergencies.
