There is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic Oncology Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, in a substantive role covering gynae-oncology in a growing service in Northwest London. ICHT is the regional cancer centre for an inner North West London population of approximately 2 million and is the largest recruiting centre to clinical trials in this sector.Ìý
This post is an additional post to cater for our growing patient population and fits into a well-established oncology team at Hammersmith Hospital.Ìý A key focus will be to manage the increasing demand for gynae-oncology from the supra-regional network. . We have a new large outpatient service opening in June 2024 at Hammersmith where the successful applicant will be based. The gynae-oncology service is supported by a team of 4 medical oncologists (2 academic,2 NHS) and 2 clinical oncologists.Ìý
TheÌý TrustÌý offersÌý specialistÌý careÌý forÌý almostÌý allÌý cancersÌý (excluding paediatrics and sarcoma) andÌý isÌý a lead site for the NationalÌý Gestational TrophoblasticÌý Disease service (only one of 2 centres in England). It is also the North West London regional Centre (ICS) for malignant spinal cord compression.
Main duties of the job
This 10PA post will: Ìý
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Work collaboratively with the Gyane oncology and surgery teams to provide care to patients of Northwest London and wider networked units
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý support the delivery and management of the medical and clinical oncology services offered to all gynae oncology patients
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Work collaboratively, offering cross cover, recruitment to and assessment of trials, active metastatic disease & complex case discussion
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Offer support and training to all non-consultant grade doctors within the unit.
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý To work collaboratively with all members of the gynae MDT’s to continue to provide outstanding clinical care and experience.

The research portfolio in Oncology is expanding, with development of medical and clinical academia in areas from computing to early phase trial recruitment and diagnostics.Ìý There is an active NCRN trial portfolio.ÌýÌý ICHT has been awarded enhanced CRUK and BRC grants, and there has been expansion of the academic base in Medical and Clinical Oncology.
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust works in partnership within the Academic Health Science Centre of Imperial College, with strong academic opportunities. We are a nationally recognised provider or clinical research in Urological and Colorectal Cancer with high recruitment to clinical trials, locally and nationally. We are also a regional trainer of undergraduates, postgraduates and oncology trainees and the role would be key to support of trainees and medical students

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GMC’s register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration and a Licence to Practice
- GMC’s Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the register by the date of the interviews or eligible for specialist registration
- Appropriate Royal College Membership
Knowledge/ Skills
Essential criteria
- Understand and be competent at treatment of all stages of medical oncology to CCST or higher
- Excellent team and communication skills
- Experience and competencies in acute oncology emergencies
- IT Skills and computer literacy
Leadership/ Management skills
Essential criteria
- Able to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authority
- Have proven skills in leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of colleagues.
Teaching & Training
Essential criteria
- Experience of teaching and training undergraduates/postgraduates and junior medical staff
Audit

- Understanding of principles of clinical audit
Language
Essential criteria
- Able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements
