Band 5 Audiologist

Band 5

PEOPLE are at the HEART of everything we do

This video gives a flavour of what it is like to work at our Trust and why some of our staff love working here 馃挋

Job overview

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Audiologist to join the passionate team of Audiologists, ATOs and clerical staff in this busy and diverse position. Do you have initial experience in adult diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology and are looking towards advancing your career? This would be ideal for a newly qualified audiologist looking for a nurturing environment to develop, or an existing Band 5 wanting a new challenge.
The Audiology Department at Queen's Hospital in Romford and King George hospital in Goodmayes is a busy Adult hearing aid and diagnostic unit serving a large population. Having settled into the role, you will be given an area of diagnostic or rehabilitative expertise for you to actively contribute towards and would be supported with necessary training and development. Closer to Central London than you may think, trains from Stratford and London Liverpool Street take around 25 minutes. Romford also has a large shopping centre and leisure complex nearby for post work entertainment.
Queen's Audiology strives to provide an excellent service to the patients of the Trust so if you are an enthusiastic audiologist looking to join a progressive department who are looking to expand our service and clinical remit, we would welcome your application.
Informal enquiries should be directed to Mark Newman, Head of Audiology, Queen鈥檚 Hospital. Telephone on 01708 435000 Ext 3577 or email [email protected]."

Main duties of the job

To provide a quality audiological assessment of patients who present with hearing difficulties and to provide a comprehensive hearing aid service. This includes carrying out a range of routine audiological tests in acute, community and domiciliary settings, in accordance with the most recent national best practice guidance and protocols.

Working for our organisation

We鈥檙e an organisation that is getting better and better. We were the most improved Trust in England for A&E performance in 2023/24; we鈥檙e no longer in special measures; and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, has been named the top CEO by the Health Service Journal. Our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we鈥檙e proud of and that our patients are happy with.

Many of our 8,000 staff 鈥 who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. More than 400 of them are on apprenticeship programmes and we鈥檙e proud to be a London Living Wage employer.

We operate from two main sites - King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes and Queen鈥檚 Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London 鈥 more than 300,000 people visited our A&Es in 2023.

Patients across north east London are benefitting from two new state of the art theatres at KGH and our Community Diagnostic Centres at Barking Community Hospital and St George鈥檚 Health and Wellbeing Hub will significantly increase the number of scans that can be carried out.

We鈥檙e looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It鈥檒l make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.
