Job overview

The Radiotherapy Physics department at Queen's Hospital in Romford is seeking an experienced therapeutic radiographer or dosimetrist to fill a newly-created Band 6 dosimetrist post, to work in the Treatment Planning section of the department. This new post is part of an expansion of staff in Oncology at BHRUT.听
The department is a well-equipped centre treating patients from across East London and Essex, committed to introducing the latest treatment techniques as well as the latest equipment. External beam radiotherapy is delivered on Varian Halcyon, Edge, and Ethos Therapy linacs. The department was the first in the country to treat patients on Halcyon, and the first to treat patients with on-line adaptive radiotherapy on Ethos.
The Edge treatment machine is our primary stereotactic machine, with high-definition MLC, 4D-CBCT, 6 DoF couch, and is HyperArc-enabled. Identify SGRT is installed on all linacs, and our Ethos has HyperSight imaging. We have recently been awarded a contract for delivering Stereotactic Radiosurgery, in partnership with Barts.

To assist in providing radiotherapy treatment plans and other treatment related information to radiotherapy.听

Our patients are benefitting from our in Ilford; an in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at and at in Hornchurch.

These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 88,000 scans a year.听

The majority of our 8,000 staff 鈥 who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited . We鈥檙e proud to be a employer.

Person specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Honours degree in Physics, Therapeutic Radiography or other appropriate science subject

Experience/ Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • experience as a Radiotherapy Radiographer including 6 months of pretreatment experience
  • experience in Clinical dosimetry, and at least 3 years in radiation physics
Desirable criteria
  • Mould room experience
  • Experience of conformal, IMRT and VMAT planning
  • Use of Eclipse TPS
