Main duties of the job
The Genomics Education and Training Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Operational Managers and the Scientist Training Lead to organise, deliver and maintain educational and training provisions for all roles within the clinical genomics department. This will include developing and managing scientific training programmes and resources, including engagement with internal and external training providers. Furthermore, the Genomics Education and Training Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring staff training documentation is completed and appropriately recorded and regularly reviewed in accordance with ISO15189 standards

- Develop, implement, and monitor education, training and engagement programmes.
- Organise and schedule training seminars on key genomic medicine topics including Cancer, Haematological Malignancy and Rare Disease.
- Ensure the departmental training policy is regularly reviewed.
- Facilitate the review or development of technical, analytical and administrative training diaries and competency documents.
- Facilitate the review or development in-house competency tests.
- Maintain and implement training material suitable for all departmental roles.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc degree in Biological Sciences/Genetics
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate qualification in education or training, or equivalent experience
- Post graduate qualification in relevant scientific subject
Skills
Essential criteria
- Detailed knowledge of training delivery in a diagnostic laboratory; knowledge of education and training theory and practice
- Understands the principles for genomics and the role it plays in patient pathways.
- Experience of training others and supervising trainees
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of the different routes to HCPC Registration as a Clinical Scientist and Biomedical Scientist
- Experience of developing and implementing policies and procedures, with emphasis on training and education, or experience in project management
- Experience of working in a clinical genomics laboratory or delivering training in a relevant field
