Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Audiology department. We are looking for a highly motivated assistant service manager,Ìý who will provide day to day operational management support and the Service Manager with the aim of ensuring that, from a non-clinical perspective, the speciality is running effectively and efficiently. The post holder will be part of a wider management team within the caregroup.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to manage the team of administrative staff, ensuring equitable workload distribution and excellent standards of administrativeÌý Ìýsupport across the teams.Ìý The Service Manager and Deputy General Manager will support the post holder in the management of more complex HR issues. The post holder will also lead on management of the patient tracking lists (PTLs) in line with national 18 week and DM01 RTT guidelines. The post holder will, as part of their role,Ìý will need toÌý investigate, resolve and correct data quality issues identified via the RTTÌý

The post holder will work closely with the patient pathway coordinators, outpatient bookings team andÌý the central booking service,Ìý the Audiology administrative and audiologist team, the 18 weeks team, AVP consultants and junior doctor.Ìý It is vital therefore that the post holder is confident, organised and diligent to foster strong relationships with all of the above teams and more.

We are looking for someone with previous experience of leading a team of staff. This person should also have a good standard of education and experience in outpatients or an operational service within the trust.Ìý You should be IT literate with experience of using hospital patient administration systems and must also have experience in capacity and demand challenges and waiting list management

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to an A level or higher standard.
  • Must have GCSE level C or above in Maths and English or equivalent qualification
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office
  • Evidence of on-going professional development/attending courses
Desirable criteria
  • 3 years operational and/or project management experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 2 or more years’ experience in a senior administrative or junior management role within an NHS setting
  • Previous experience in a patient/customer facing role
  • Experience of RTT waiting list management
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in an operational or project management role. Previous staff management and financial management
  • Knowledge of Iclip

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work autonomously and on own initiative.
  • Ability to develop and implement business policies for their own area.
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office
