If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to work within an Integrated Care Board in the Chief Nursing Officer Directorate as a Designated Nurse Safeguarding Children, then we would encourage you to contact us.

The NWL ICB Safeguarding team is made up of Designated Nurses for Safeguarding Children and Children Looked After (CLA), Designated Doctors for Safeguarding Children and CLA, and Named GPs. The team also includes Designated Professionals for Safeguarding Adults. The NWL ICB Safeguarding service covers the boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, and Westminster/Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.聽

We are looking for three dynamic and experienced Safeguarding Children Nurses who have comprehensive knowledge and experience of working in health care and across the wider system. The vacant posts are in Brent, Harrow and Hounslow. 聽聽聽聽

Main duties of the job

You will need to demonstrate a good understanding of commissioning organisations and how safeguarding assurance is gathered whilst using your strategic leadership skills to influence the safeguarding portfolio. This will require excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop and sustain productive and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders. You will need to demonstrate a good understanding of child protection processes and provide expert advice and support across the NWL health economy, as well as to partner agencies such as the police and local authority. You will contribute to the work of the Safeguarding Children Partnerships and provide them with advice and support as required.聽

You will work across a collaborative team which encompasses safeguarding, quality and patient safety to fulfil the statutory responsibilities of the Integrated Care Board in North West London.

Person specification

Knowledge Training and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Member of relevant professional clinical body (NMC, HPCP, SWE).
  • Experience of working at a professional level in the NHS and working as a Named/Safeguarding Specialist role (or equivalent experience) for numerous years post qualification.
  • Educated to Master鈥檚 level or able to demonstrate relevant clinical experience and research in equivalence including national recognition
  • Evidence of post-basic continuing professional development including in Safeguarding.
  • Extensive knowledge of national/local Safeguarding Children Procedures. Knowledge and understanding of legislation such as the Mental Capacity Act and consent.
Desirable criteria
  • Management/ Leadership Course

Communication Skills

Essential criteria
  • Developed communication skills for delivering key messages to a range of stakeholders both internal and external (including outside the NHS) to the organisation, some at very senior level.
  • Good presentational skills for conveying complex concepts.
  • Ability to use informed persuasion to influence others.

Analytical

Essential criteria
  • Ability to identify risks, anticipate issues and create solutions and to resolve problems in relation to project or service delivery.
  • Ability to understand a broad range of complex information quickly and making decisions where opinions differ/no obvious solution

Management Skills

  • Abilities for financial and staff management

Essential criteria
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with intermediate keyboard skills.
