An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 specialist dietitian to work in the community Cardiac Rehabilitation service in West Hertfordshire on a permanent contract.Ìý We require a highly motivated and skilled dietitian, with excellent communication skills, who is confident in working across professional boundaries to join our enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team.Ìý You will need to be flexible, innovative and a good team player with the ability to work independently within the community setting.

Main duties of the job

The successful individual will be responsible for providing specialist dietetic skills, assessment, and knowledge as part of of a multidisciplinary cardiac rehab team across west Hertfordshire and supporting the MDT in delivering cardiac rehabilitation exercise and education session for patients following a recent cardiac event, cardiac procedure or with a diagnosis of heart failure.Ìý These assessments and group therapy session would take place in a variety of community venues and virtually.

Education/Qualification

Essential criteria
  • HCPC Registered Dietitian
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant post registration cardiac qualification
  • Membership of BACPR (British Association of Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation)
  • Membership of a cardiac specialist interest group

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 2 years post registration experience
  • Experience of working with cardiology patients
  • Experience of working within a community setting.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop new initiatives.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in managing cardiac conditions

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to motivate self and others and an ability to develop and maintain team working.
  • Ability to make decisions and prioritise actions.
  • A working knowledge of clinical governance and evidence-based practice
  • Ability to demonstrate specialist clinical expertise and a sound working knowledge of guidelines in the field of cardiac care.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and an ability to work autonomously.
  • Knowledge awareness of recent NHS policies/DoH agenda
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the holistic needs of the client group.
  • Computer skills i.e. Word, data- bases email, internet, SystmOne
  • An eagerness to contribute to quality assurance and audit.
