Deputy Capital Accountant

The post-holder will help support the provision of a financial management service to capital budget holders. This incorporates planning, monitoring, reporting and forecasting the annual capital programme.
Liaise with managers and advise on funding mechanisms and control of capital.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the accounting treatment of the Trust capital expenditure and fixed assets is in accordance with accounting standards and the requirements of NHS England.

- To support the Capital Accountant in the planning, monitoring, reporting and forecasting of the Trust's capital programme.
- Financial input into capital business cases in liaison with relevant General/Service Managers.
- Completion of the fixed asset note to the Trust annual accounts including the completion of capital expenditure figures and commitments for the charitable fund accounts.
- Accurate reporting of lease assets and liabilities in accordance with IFRS16.
- Evaluation of lease against buy options using appropriate techniques ensuring best value for money.Ìý
- Assist with the production of high quality and accurate working papers for internal and external audit as required.
- Assist in the completion of the capital charges estimates.
- Support in the maintenance of the Fixed Asset and Operating lease registers.

- Understand and be able to interpret relevant accounting standards and other guidance
- Experience of financial monitoring and challenge of capital and revenue expenditure, budgets and forecasts (including leased assets and equipment)
- Excellent analytical and reasoning skills
- Proficient in the use of computerised and manual financial systems, including spreadsheets and have the ability to develop systems to maximum benefits to use
- Ability to work without supervision and to deliver to deadlines
