Job overview
A 12-month secondment opportunity has arisen in the Cheshire and Merseyside South Sector for a Group Manager. The Group Manager will assume responsibility for local operational service delivery, acting on behalf of, and deputising for the Sector Manager within their group of stations. They will have responsibility for resource management and planning (rostering of resources), fleet and estates management, and financial management within their group of stations.
Main duties of the job
The Group Manager will plan the deployment of resources but handover the responsibility for management of those resources on the day to the relevant Duty Officer. The Group Manager will have a focus on staff welfare support and management and implementation of health and wellbeing measures. They will manage and oversee absence management procedures, working with Senior Paramedics to make sure staff are escalated where appropriate. They will also undertake investigations as appropriate. They will have responsibility for ensuring that the staff working in their group of stations are appropriately trained, are paid correctly, have access to kit, equipment and vehicles required to do their jobs, and are supported to be at work. They will also have a responsibility for maintaining the health and wellbeing of the staff working in the group they are managing – implementing health and wellbeing initiatives driven by the sector/area/organisation. The Group Manager will also support the clinical lead with duty of candour.

Guided by the Sector Manager, the Group Manager will work closely with the Sector Clinical Lead to support them to deliver against clinical performance within their group.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

- Educated to degree level or relevant professional experience.
- Full UK driving licence, with C1.

- Working knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act, Emergency Preparedness guidance, and Emergency Response and Recovery guidance.
