Job overview

Saint Mary's Managed Clinical ServiceÌý is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Midwife with a special interest in infant feeding to lead our Infant Feeding Team at our Wythenshawe site.Ìý

Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to offer early interventions for families experiencing urgent or complex feeding challenges during the initial postnatal period.

You will be a specialist in your field, with extensive experience supporting families with infant feeding.

A key element of this role is to work together with the Infant Feeding Teams across Saint Mary's MCS to lead the service in achieving BFI Accreditation.Ìý

The post holder will work alongside an established team to offer support to the maternity team and families. You will collate data, and formulate associated action plans to support andÌý improve care and service provision within infant feeding. You will be required to lead a programme of training to support the maternity team to maintain their knowledge regarding infant feeding. This training may be face to face orÌý virtual.

There is an expectation within your role, to maintainÌý your clinical skills to support the maternity wards as required.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience as a band 6 midwife
  • Knowledge of the public health agenda
  • Experience of teaching
  • Works with MFT Values and Behaviours
Desirable criteria
  • Specialist infant feeding experience
  • BFI Accreditation Experience

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife with current NMC registration
  • Educated to degree level
  • Teaching and experience in supervising students
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of study within the speciality of infant feeding
  • Lactation Consultant
  • Frenulotomy Trained

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of National and local health policy relating to infant feeding.
  • Knowledge of multi-agency working together in child protection.
  • IT skills including and ability to use Excel data for reporting on infant feeding statistics
