An opportunity has arisen within the Renal Department Ìýfor an experienced Medical Secretary to join our busy and dynamic team. ÌýÌý

You will provide high quality administrative support to multiple consultants and their clinical teams.

This role offers flexible working with a combination of Ìýoffice based and home working options available. ÌýÌý

This post will provide you with an exciting challenge and give you the opportunity to play a key-supporting role in supporting our renal patients. Ìý

This role is based at Salford Royal Hospital and benefits from a combination of on site and home working. Ìý

Hours: Ìý30 hours over 4 or 5 days.Ìý

Please note: ÌýNCA is developing Clinically Led Models to deliver services in the future. ÌýAs part of this, and the expected introduction of a Single EPR in the near future, many functions are reviewing their delivery models, and this includes Clinical Administration. Ìý

Main duties of the job

The main duties Ìýof the medical secretary includes waiting list management, organising appointments and elective admissions, managing investigations/results, and providing an administrative service to multiple consultants. ÌýÌý

A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, RSA III or equivalent typing are essential for this post. Ìý Knowledge of medical terminology and the RTT patient pathway would be desirable but not essential, as training will be given.

As the role involves dealing with the public and professionals you must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. ÌýYou will have a flexible and professional approach.

You will have proven organisational skills and be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. Ìý

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RSA 2 or equivalent qualification
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL qualification.
  • Qualification in medical secretarial studies.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • 2 years minimum previous experience as medical secretary or support secretary
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • A good understanding of Microsoft Office and Outlook, audio typing
  • Good all-round secretarial knowledge of all office practice and procedures
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of the Trust’s current IT systems (e.g. Medisec, Sunrise, PAS/Patient Centre).
