Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Sunflower House building newly relocated, and opened on the hospital site.
We currently have more than 4,000 staff working across our community and hospital sites. We’re also a teaching and training hospital providing education and training to around 540 medical and over 500 nursing and allied health professional students each year.

Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to specialise in Paediatric Orthotists here at Alder Hey. This post is a band 6 one-year fixed term post for 30 hours per week. You will have the opportunity to work within highly specialist paediatric services including Spinal, Chest Wall, Craniofacial, Ponsetti and Major Trauma, as well as help manage the care of a large variety of post-surgery patients. The hours will be 4 days between Monday to Friday 08-30 until 4-30pm. Alternatively, there is the option to condense your hours into 3.5 days.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the orthotics team providing a comprehensive orthotics service to patients. To use orthotic knowledge and skills to assess, prescribe, measure and fit a wide range of off the shelf and bespoke orthotic devices. To work within BAPO standards, always comply with orthotics service procedures and MHRA legislation. To provide high-quality, cost-effective care for all our patients, ensuring that patient satisfaction, providing a professional, supportive and friendly environment is at the forefront of everything we do.

Desirable criteria
- Experience as an Orthotist completing practise across a broad range of orthotic treatments.
