Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care and has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients’ homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Sunflower House building newly relocated, and opened on the hospital site.

Come and be a part of our dedicated and close-knit cross-sectional imaging team in the hospital in the park.

Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a major teaching hospital with 270 beds. It is a supra-regional centre for cardiac surgery, neuro surgery and paediatric major trauma. Alder Hey is one of Europe’s busiest children’s hospitals and we care for over 270,000 young people and their families every year.

Main duties of the job

We perform a wide range of examinations including advanced neuro imaging (fMRI and intra-operative MRI), advanced cardiac MRI and CT and some research scanning, in fact no two days are ever the same.

Working for our organisation

We are the paediatric tertiary referral centre for children in Merseyside, as well as much of North West England and North Wales.ÌýÌý

The radiology department provides all imaging modalities, including nuclear medicine, ultrasound, CT, MRI and intervention.

Our Cross Sectional Imaging department currently has three MRI scanners, a Philips Ingenia 1.5T & 3T Ingenia intra-operative system. we have a newly installed GE Signa Premier 3T research scanner.Ìý Our CT scanner is a Philips Ingenuity 128 Elite.

We are looking for an adaptable, friendly and enthusiastic candidate who would embrace the challenge of working with children. Previous experience in cross sectional imaging is desirable.

The candidate would be expected to work extended days and on call as required.

Role Summary:ÌýÌý

The post holder will be required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and deliver a high-quality Cross-Sectional Imaging service for a variety of paediatric presentations. Pro rata participation in the CT/MRI on-call rota is required. The post holder must have a flexible approach to the working hours to accommodate the demands of the department.
