Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy Medical Photography Department at Liverpool University Hospitals. This is an exciting time for our department in future developments of our service.

The service is primarily based at The Royal Liverpool Hospital, where we provide a wide range of medical photographic services for a variety of specialties including Trauma and Orthopaedics, Vascular, Dermatology, Infectious diseases. We work alongside clinical nurse specialists and clinicians from both medical and surgical divisions. The service also operates from a studio providing support for medico – legal services, general photography and videography.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to appoint a friendly, self-motivated, enthusiastic, conscientious team member who is adaptable and able to work independently. The candidate will offer excellent interpersonal and communication skills and technical ability with knowledge of Photoshop and a thorough understanding of digital technology. A photographic degree is essential and experience within a department would be an advantage.

ÌýSkills in time management and prioritising workloads are essential, whilst supporting the senior photographer. You will also be willing to work across site at Broadgreen Hospital on rotational periods.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc Medical Illustration or equivalent
  • State registered medical Illustration practitioner

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in a clinical photographic section of a medical illustration department yielding the experience and skills identified below
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching hospital experience
  • Experience of working with a multidisciplinary medical illustration department comprising clinical photographers, medical graphic designers, reprographic and multimedia productions

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Photographic and video skills including clinical, commercial & PR using conventional and digital imaging technology.
  • Good IT skills including working knowledge of the following Apple Macintosh computer programmes Photoshop, QuarkXpress and PowerPoint
  • Photographic laboratory skills including mono, colour and E6 processing.
  • Experience / knowledge of Digital Image Asset Management Systems
Desirable criteria
  • A knowledge and understanding of other professions within the NHS and professions within a medical illustration services department.
  • A good knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
  • Commitment to deliver high quality clinical photographic service
