Job Summary: Logistics Supervisor at UHLG

We are recruiting a dedicated a team of experienced Logistics Supervisors to oversee and manage key aspects of our Transport and Environmental Waste services within the Logisitcs Department. This role involves direct supervision of staff, ensuring smooth operations across all UHLG sites, and addressing issues at the point of contact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations within the hours of 0600–2200hrs (Monday to Friday) and 0600–1800hrs (weekends).
  • Support department managers and supervisors to ensure all staff are on duty and operational issues are promptly resolved.
  • Conduct regular audits of working practices related to environmental waste and transport schedules to maintain mandatory compliance and efficiency.
  • Manage shift coverage, monitor sickness in line with organisational policies, and utilise systems such as HealthRoster, CAFM, and other associated system tools.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidates will possess proven supervisory or management experience, demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure, and have the competence to lead effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Main duties of the job

  • Transport Coordination

    • Oversee the scheduling and management of Transport services, ensuring timely and efficient movement of goods, equipment, and materials.
    • Monitor vehicle maintenance and ensure compliance with legal and safety standards.
    • Manage drivers and support staff, including performance monitoring and addressing operational challenges.
  • Environmental Waste Management

    • Supervise the collection, segregation, and disposal of waste in compliance with environmental regulations and hospital policies.
    • Implement and monitor sustainability initiatives to minimise waste and promote recycling.
    • Ensure the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Receipt and Distribution

    • Manage the receipt, inspection, and distribution of goods and materials across the hospital sites.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely delivery to departments.
    • Address discrepancies in deliveries and liaise with departments to resolve issues.
  • Team Leadership and Development

    • Supervise and support Logistics staff, including conducting performance reviews and providing training.
    • Allocate resources effectively to meet operational needs.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Compliance and Reporting

    • Ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental, and operational policies.
    • Monitor and report on logistics performance, identifying areas for improvement.
    • Implement corrective actions and innovations to enhance efficiency and service quality.
