Job overview

Assist the registered nurse in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing
care.
聽Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and
their relatives/carers.
聽To practice competently, you must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities required
for lawful, safe and effective practice without direct supervision. You must
acknowledge the limits of your professional competence and only undertake practice
and accept responsibilities for those activities in which you are competent; this
includes the use of medical equipment.

Main duties of the job

Clinical
聽With appropriate training undertake clinical skills


Health and Safety
聽To promote, monitor and maintain health and safety of self and others within the
workplace as per Trust Health & Safety Policy.
聽To promote security of self, others and property within the work place as per Trust
policy.
聽To use in a proper and safe manner the equipment/facilities provided and report any concerns聽
To refrain from the wilful misuse of or interference with anything provided聽which might endanger you or others.
聽To report all equipment hazards and defects and take out of use.
To report all accidents and near misses and ensure that datix are completed

To maintain and promote Trust policy of safe disposal of hazardous and nonhazardous waste

Managerial / Leadership
Contribute to effective team working.
聽To maintain and promote confidentiality of information as per Trust policy.
Education and Development
Develop own skills and knowledge.
聽To attend and participate in mandatory study day.
聽To have an annual appraisal as per Trust policy.


Patient Care

  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in healthcare
  • Willingness to undertake further study

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in a similar care environment
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
  • To have awareness of their role in the hospital setting

Skills and Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting.
  • Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of understanding
  • Able to present information and refer questions to others where appropriate.
