Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Hospital Flow Directorate Team within the Discharge Lounge Service. This role has been created to support the timely and safe discharge of our patients from acute services and will be key to ensuring the safe booking and usage of the various transport requirements for patients. The role will work across the 5-day period.
An understanding of the discharge process within a hospital setting is essential, and the key skills required are a professional and approachable manner- both in person and via telephone, and an ability to use/willingness to learn various computer systems. These will include Microsoft office and internal systems including NWAS booking system. The successful candidate will be expected to manage and delegate jobs to other providers when necessary.Ìý
The daily tasks of the Operational Flow Administrator include data inputting, liaising with various member of the MDT inclusive of bed management, discharge coordinators, NWAS operators and private ambulance transport. Essentially, the post holder requires effective critical thinking skills to ensure transport utilised effectively and appropriately.ÌýÌý
The Operational Flow Administrator must be aware of policies and procedures around safeguarding/ vulnerable people. They must be compliant with patient confidentiality and maintain a professional approach and work within the expected code of conduct.Ìý
Main duties of the job
- Receptions service for visitors, telephone callers and mail.
- New roles created to support the timely and safe discharge of our patients from acute services and will be key to ensuring the safe booking and usage of the various transport requirements for patients.
- To ensure that all referrals (discharge notifications) are checked, recorded and inputted on appropriate databases/systems and ensure they are send to appropriate areas
- To ensure that recording, processing and updating local authority systems is in line within their specific policies and procedures.
- Updating sickness and absence procedures.
- Stationary and equipment orders
- Information and data processing and reporting
- Maintaining patient/service user files
- Updating care plans/assessments
- Invoices for orders
- Minute taking
- Updating Master Control Plan (patients who are medically optimised).
- All other duties that are considered appropriate to the post.
