Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Physiotherapist to join our surgical rotations. At present the role consists of In-patient Orthopaedic Therapy and Musculoskeletal Out-Patients, Ìýwith the view to expanding these in future. The rotations are currently 6 months giving the candidate the chance to successfully embed within the teams and gain in-depth knowledge of the patient caseloads.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in musculoskeletal and acute orthopaedic rehabilitation. The musculoskeletal rotation will give an opportunity to provide services to pain clinic through acupuncture sessions and the ENT team undertaking vestibular assessments within our out-patient department. There is also opportunity to work in fracture clinics (incl virtual) and the gym facility, running classes.
Main duties of the job
ÌýThe Orthopaedic rotation will provide the opportunity to work within outreach and to work ward based on trauma, elective, #NOF and paediatrics.Ìý Orthopaedic therapy provides a seven day service and late cover for the day ward at St Helens hospital. This will involve participation in some weekend and late shift working.Ìý

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree in Physiotherapist
- HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
- Clinical Educators Certificate
- Post Grad accredited study e.g. MSc in relevant health studies
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Advanced clinical knowledge relevant to the care environment and evidence of evidence based practise in relevant health setting
- Awareness of own strengths and limitations
- Knowledge of relevant national policies and guidance and relevant assessment tools
- Experience of line managing a team including setting objectives, conducting appraisals and effective delegation and co-ordination
- Evidence of effective working within an MDT
