Job overview

The Facilities Department are looking to recruit a number of hard-working enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly and dynamic Cleanliness Services Team at Arrowe Park Hospital.

The role of the Healthcare Cleaning Professional is to support the smooth day to day operational running of our hospital through achieving excellent cleaning standards that will provide a clean and safe healthcare environment that meets our patient’s expectations.

Shift Times: Monday-Friday Part time shifts 5.00pm-8.00pm, 3.00pm-7.00pm & 4.00pm-7.00pm

There will be a requirement to work Bank Holidays.

This role is highlighted as part of the Wirral Healthcare & Workforce programme.

Main duties of the job

General baseline cleaning duties of the hospital environment will include mopping, vacuuming, damp dusting, cleaning of toilets and bathrooms and serving beverages to patients.

Additional specialised cleaning duties, including infection prevention and control cleaning, will be required as directed.

The successful Healthcare Cleaning Professional candidates will be required to:

  • have a flexible and adaptable approach to prioritise workload and work in all areas of the hospital as instructed
  • have customer service skills
  • be friendly and approachable
  • be reliable with good time management
  • have awareness of Infection Prevention and Control practices within a healthcare environment
  • demonstrate the core capabilities and behaviours of the role
  • be passionate about delivering a high-quality service

Cleaning experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be given to provide the knowledge and skills to be a competent Healthcare Cleaning Professional. Uniform will be provided.

  • Experience of working in a cleanliness role within a healthcare or education setting

  • Good standard of English

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of: Health and Safety, Control of Infection, Cleaning Products, Colour Coding, Protective Personal Equipment, Handling sharps, Methods of Cleaning, Specialist Equipment (the above knowledge will be gained through Trust Induction and on the job training which is expected to take place over a number of weeks after commencement in the role)
  • Good communication skills
  • Good customer care skills
