This is an exciting opportunity to join the Walton Centre as a Lead Infection prevention and control nurse. Whilst offering leadership support to the tissue viability team. To provide high profile leadership and support to all staff groups
ï‚· To represent the Infection Prevention and Control Service at strategic and operational meetings both internally and externally, deputising for the DIPC or deputy DIPC where appropriate.ï‚· To be responsible for ensuring the submission and verification of mandatory data on HCAIs, and the circulation of this data both internally and to external agencies

Main duties of the job


ï‚· To ensure all regular reports are prepared and submitted within agreed timescales
ï‚· To be responsible for ensuring the submission and verification of mandatory data on HCAIs, and the circulation of this data both internally and to external agencies
ï‚· To represent the Trust in respect of infection prevention and control for any Care Quality Commission inspections.
ï‚· To provide strategic leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of all aspects on infection prevention and control within the Trust.

ï‚· To lead and develop the Infection Control Team, ensuring that the appropriate policies and standards are developed and implemented in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2012 and Care Quality Commission registration requirements.
ï‚· To provide leadership and management support to the Infection Prevention and Control Team and assist in their on-going development individually and as a team.
ï‚· To ensure effective liaison with staff across the Trust through input to Divisional and Corporate meetings, to ensure compliance with Infection Control policies and legislation.
ï‚· To lead the provision of evidence from Infection Control to provide assurance to Trust Board that the Trust is compliant with the Health and Social Care Act and associated Code of Practice for the prevention and control of infection and meet Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • ENB 998 certificate or equivalent
  • Educated to Masters Degree level or equivalent in infection prevention and control
  • Infection Control qualification.
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification. Masters level or equivalent.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post registration experience with ward/departmental management experience
  • Clear evidence of management experience
