Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in the Urology Department within the Planned Care Group.

· The post holder will work as a Specialist Practitioner with advanced clinical skills within an interdepartmental and Multidisciplinary team primarily to ensure that patients presenting with urology disorders or complications of treatment, receive prompt and appropriate diagnostic tests, clinical assessment, treatment, intervention, care and therapy. The post holder will exercise advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care, whilst maintaining a professional portfolio that supports their scope of practice, in accordance with the Health Board’s Framework for Advanced Practice.

Main duties of the job

The ACP/SCP in Urology will be expected to provide expert clinical practice, advice, and support relevant to this area of practice. The post holder will be expected to develop the work, patient pathway and staff within urology and to seek continually to improve the service, whilst providing for the capacity and demand issues of the department. They will work with a high degree of autonomy covering in patient care and provide TP biopsy and cystoscopic services.

The post holder will monitor and lead improvements to standards of care through; supervision of practice, clinical audit, implementation of evidence-based practice, teaching and support of colleagues and the provision of professional leadership. The will contribute to clinical governance by leading quality improvement, audit and research projects as part of the multidisciplinary service-wide performance and quality agenda.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Level 7 Education (Master’s Degree) relevant to area of practice
