Job overview

The ABUHB Childrens and Adolescent Mental Health Service(CAMHS) includes a small team of dynamic dietitians that work as part of a larger multidisciplinary team.

The service supports children and their families to manage their weight and wellbeing through individualised interventions that are tailored to their individual needs. These interventions can be delivered via one-to-one sessions, group work, face to face and virtual clinics.

Main duties of the job

Band 4 Dietetic Assistant Practitioner - CAMHS

We have an opportunity for a Band 4 Dietetic Assistant Practitioner to join the CAMHS team.

As an integral part of the team, the post holder will support dietitians to plan, deliver and evaluate interventions to support children and young people with disordered eating and low body weight and their families.

The post holder will carry a delegated caseload of children and young people to support the patient and families with making positive changes. They will be expected to liaise with a number of stakeholders and co-ordinate care.

The post holder will support the work of registered dietitians as well as other clinicians in the multidisciplinary team and would be required to work within the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Professional Code of Conduct for dietetic assistants.

The post holder will support service users in a variety of settings to include outpatient clinics , in the homes and during admissions to hospital at the Grange University Hospital.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Nutrition / Health Promotion qualification equivalent to a minimum of 60 credits at level 4 or above (NVQ 3 equivalent)
  • Good general education – 5 GCSEs or equivalent

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with children and families
  • Experience of working within the NHS / healthcare or community setting
  • Experience of working with patients with healthcare needs to support delivery of their care plans.
  • Experience of using Microsoft windows, word, powerpoint and outlook packages
  • Experience of dealing with telephone enquiries
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within weight management or with people who have weight management problems
  • Experience of supporting the education / delivery of teaching to other health care professionals or patients.
  • Previous experience as a Dietetic Assistant or HCSW

Skills and ability

  • Ability to work flexibly - independently and as part of a team
