Volunteers are a valuable part of The University Hospitals of Northamptonshire; our highly committed volunteers can be found in all areas of the hospital. Volunteering allows people to give something back to their local community, all for as little as three-four hours a week.Ìý
We are looking for people for 9 specific volunteer roles:
· Brew Buddy (Mon – Fri between 9.30 -15.00)
· Ward Buddy (Mon – Sun between 08.00 - 20.00)
· Buggy Driver (Mon – Fri between 08.30 – 16.30)
· Radio Presenter (Varies)
· Ward Buddy Spinney Fields Centre (Mon – Sun 16.00-19.00)
· Book Trolley Volunteer (Mon – Fri 10.30-12 noon, 14.00-16.00
· Pharmacy Runner (Mon- Sun between 12 .00-19.30)
· Clinic Volunteer (Mon-Fri between 09.00 – 16.00)
· MacMillan Volunteer (Varies)

Main duties of the job
Ward Volunteer - Spending time with patients providing a listening ear and engaging in friendly conversation as appropriate, demonstrate respect & sensitivity to all individuals.ÌýAlso available at Spinney Fields Centre, Rushden.
Pharmacy Runner (Over 18's)- To collect pharmacy medication bags from the pharmacy team and deliver these to the identified wards/departments.
Outdoor Buggy Driver – To provide a comprehensive volunteer buggy service for the hospital. Undertake visual safety checks at the start of the shift.
Clinic Volunteer – Meet & greet patients upon arrival providing a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Offer drinks to patients, if allowed.Ìý
Brew Buddy Volunteer- Supporting staff wellbeing through providing refreshments, delivering a mobile beverage service, managing stock levels and restocking the trolley.
Book Trolley Volunteer- Prepare the book trolley with a selection of reading materials. Promote the bedside book service and encourage patients to choose books, offer activity packs.Ìý
Radio Volunteer- Production of radio programmes in line with station policies and guidelines. Agree structure and content of programmes with Programme Organiser.Ìý
MacMillan Volunteer- Assess suitability of the client and carry out complimentary therapy as per professional guidelines. Complete all the required Macmillan/KGH records/documentation of complementary therapy offered.Ìý For more information please call 01536 491589Ìý
