Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Anaesthetic Lead for our Day Surgery Theatres in Area K. We work collaboratively with the Eye Theatres at NGH, and collectively are responsible for 4 theatres across 2 different complexes. We perform a range of elective General Surgery, Head and Neck, Urology, Breast, Plastics, Vascular and Ophthalmic procedures on both adults and children.

We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual to take on the responsibility of leading the Anaesthetic team in DSU and Eyes. You must have excellent communication and negotiation skills and be able to lead by example.

You must have sound Anaesthetic experience as you will be clinically based, dividing your time between all areas within the job description. You will be expected to coordinate both DSU and Eyes Theatres on a rotation basis and deputise for the Theatre Managers in their absence. You will have staff management and leadership responsibilities and assist the management team in implementing change projects within the departments to enhance patient care and positive patient experiences.

The post-holder will also play an integral part in the mentorship, development and training of junior staff and students. You will be expected to work closely alongside the Practice Education team in the management of students/ODP rotation placements, to ensure all individuals develop into safe, confident and competent practitioners.

Main duties of the job

Assist the theatre manager in the return to work process, appraisals, and probation management of new members of the team. You may also be expected to deputise in the absence of the theatre manager.

Above all, be a positive role model, lead by example and behave in an open and inclusive manner to all members of the team
