NHFT are currently looking to appoint a Clinical Fellow Psychiatrist in Older Adult’s Liaison Psychiatry. The role will be based at Northampton General Hospital
Main duties of the job
The post holder will demonstrate a commitment to clinical excellence and an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will need to be a born leader and a people person who loves to collaborate and innovate. You need to be MRC psych or equivalent with full registration, licensed and specialist registered or within six months of obtaining your CCT on the date of the Advisory Appointment Committee. The ability to travel to all locations within the Trust is essential.

There are many opportunities to be involved in clinical research and you will have access to the Trust research fellows to help develop research ideas. The Trust already has a portfolio of research studies in Old Age Dementia and Physical Health.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The trust is leading nationally on physical treatments in mental health, nurse administered ECT, rTMS and ketamine infusion. We also have research collaboration with the Open University along with Nottingham, Oxford and Northampton University.
The Trust hosts Undergraduates from Leicester and Norwich Medical schools with numerous opportunities to teach this cohort.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria
- The applicant will possess MRCPsych or equivalent, be included on the GMC’s Specialist Register or Specialist Registrars within six months of completing CCT
- Full GMC Registration
- Management skills
- Basic computer skills including ability to use email/Internet
Desirable criteria
- Publications in the field of psychiatry
- Management training
Special Aptitudes
Essential criteria
- Ability to relate well to elderly patients, carers and relatives
- Team player – to fit in with truly multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of broad perspective of the service within a wider context of NHS Mental Health Services and Primary Care Trusts/Groups
- Experience of training psychiatric Core trainees and multidisciplinary staff
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of first hand experience of developing services in a constantly changing environment and to tight budgetary restraints
- Experience of setting up induction and training packages for Junior Doctors
- Experience of training Specialist Registrars
- Understanding of contracting, finance and activity monitoring
