We are looking to appoint an Employee Relations Advisor on a permanent basis to start in April 2025.Ìý

As part of our dedicated employee relations team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting managers across the Trust with day to day employee relations matters such as absence management, discipline, grievances and capability; offering sound, consistent advice based on current policies, legislation and best practice.Ìý

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The postholder should have a degree in a relevant subject or relevant HR experience equivalent to degree level or working towards CIPD Level 5 qualification Ìý and/or some experience of advising managers and staff on employee relations matters.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a dynamic, responsive and supportive Employee Relations team, providing an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and capable HR practitioner to grow and shape their career.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Degree in a relevant subject or relevant HR experience equivalent to degree level or working towards CIPD level 5 qualification

Experience

  • • Experience of working with employee relations cases: sickness absence, grievance, capability, misconduct, redeployment issues
  • • Experience of supporting with non-complex organisational change / TUPE
  • • Experience of advising operational managers on key employee relations policy and procedures
  • • Experience of using up to date employment law and best practice advice on employee relations cases
Desirable criteria
  • Supporting Job Evaluation panels
  • Supporting mediation cases

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • • Up to date knowledge of employment law and its application in the workforce setting
  • • Microsoft office applications, HR related databases and systems
  • • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and outside agencies

Skills

Essential criteria
  • • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build credibility with all levels of staff, management and Trade Unions
  • • Ability to understand and interpret data and policy documentation
  • • Ability to work on own initiative, follow instructions and guidelines
  • • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise own work
  • • Resilient and able to cope with changing environment

Contractual requirements

Essential criteria
  • • Ability to travel to sites throughout the geographical area of the Trust
  • • A full, current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle fit and insured for business use are required for this post. Reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled staff in line with the Equality Act 2010.
