Job overview
This role will support the delivery of the Trusts Workforce Development Plan specifically around driver education within the development pathways of new clinicians and delivery of the emergency response driving refresher programme to ensure compliance with legislation.Ìý
Our Location
This Driving Educator post is aligned to EMAS Education at Nottingham Trent University - Clifton Campus, in Nottingham. This is an attractive area to work in with competitive housing, a historic city, and attractive towns and villages nearby. Training delivery will generally be shared between Oak House and Clifton NTU Education Centres.
Main duties of the job
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for an emergency response driver educator. The role of Driving Educator is an important role within EMAS Organisational Learning and contributes to the delivery of taught programmes, as well as supporting divisional-based development and annual educational updates.

ÌýOur Programmes
This is a particularly exciting time in driver education, and EMAS have a range of students/learners accessing various recruit pathways such as Newly Qualified Paramedic (NQP), Student Technician and Ambulance Support Crew programmes, along with Urgent Care Assistant and Patient TransportÌý Programmes. We are also implementing a 5 yearly refresher programme for all emergency response drivers to ensure compliance with amendments to legislation. You will need to be confident to teach and assess across the range of driver training provisions.Ìý
Working for our organisation
The Trusts Driving Education Team work within the wider Organisational Learning department, OL, and delivers the driving qualification phase which is integral to a clinician's development.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Working within the Driver Education Team, your main roles will be
1.Ìý Delivery of Level 3 CERAD courses in line with the awarding bodie's requirements
2.Ìý Assessment of learners during the assessment phase of the Level 3 CERAD course
3. Delivery of the Trust's 1-day emergency response driving refresher session in line with legislative requirementsÌý
4.Ìý Complete post-accident support sessions as directed by a Driving Education LeadÌý
5.Ìý Take an active part in quality assurance activitiesÌý including standardisation, peer and manager reviewsÌý

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Level 4 Diploma in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving Instruction (L4 DERADI)
- Emergency Driving Award (Police, Fire or NHS Ambulance)
- Assessing Award
- Teaching Qualification (Award in Education and Training (L3))
Desirable criteria
- Coaching qualification
- Mentoring qualification
- Diploma in Education and Teaching (L5)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant operational driving and instructional experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience of delivering emergency driver training/assessment activities
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge required to perform as an emergency Driving Educator, to include up-to-date knowledge of Driving Standards Agency driver training requirements, and Roadcraft.
- Working knowledge of the Section 19 codes of practice
Desirable criteria
- Working knowledge of regulated qualification framework
