Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic person to support our Looked After Children Team. The post is based in Shrewsbury at Coral House. You will be responsible for the administrative processes integral to statutory health assessments for Looked After Children.
We are looking for someone with existing skills and experience in an administrative role to join our team and support the service for Looked After Children across Shropshire and Telford.
You will provide a confidential, clerical, typing and administrative service to the Looked After Children team as appropriate for the smooth and efficient running in the office, supporting the team under the supervision of the team lead.聽

Main duties of the job
The post will involve a wide range of general administration duties; including managing enquiries, maintaining databases, using word and excel, arranging clinics and liaising with professionals within and outside our organisation to support the health and wellbeing of Looked After Children in our area.
The role will offer you the opportunity to communicate with a wide range of people. You will therefore have excellent communication skills. You will be expected to work with confidential and sensitive information in a busy environment. You will be a valuable member of the team and have the confidence to work independently within local protocols and with regard to legislation. You should be computer literate, be able to prioritise, show attention to detail and have the ability to work as part of the team or self-directed.

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Good general education.
- RSA Stage 2 Word Processing/typing qualification or ability to demonstrate equivalent standard and experience.
- Able to demonstrate a good level of English language and grammar commensurate with composing own letters and ability to correct other correspondence as necessary.
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Work experience of liaising with the public on the telephone and / or face to face
- Demonstrable experience of using word processing, database packages and other computer systems
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of software
- Ability and willingness to learn how to communicate effectively and sensitively with colleagues, members of the public and others from a variety of backgrounds
- Ability to work with limited supervision but seek advice when appropriate
- Ability to carry out basic clerical tasks following instruction
- Ability to prioritise and organise own work to meet deadlines
- Ability to understand the importance of confidentiality and to maintain this at all times as necessary
