Job overview

The post holder will provide support to ensure the effective negotiation and management of a range of contracts, taking responsibility for a portfolio of contracts, ensuring successful delivery of provider contracts commissioned by the ICB, to time and to budget.ÌýÌý

Main duties of the job

ÌýTo work closely with the Contract Management Team (CMT) as an integral part of negotiations and performance monitoring, taking the lead on a defined portfolio of contracts.

Support the monthly contract monitoring and management agenda including:

Monitoring performance against contractualÌýtargets.

The production of timely and validated contract monitoring information - including quality in aÌýuser-friendly format.

Support the escalation and intervention; taking responsibility for alerting the Deputy Director of Contracting/Business Partner to issues of concern and making recommendations for the actions that should be taken.

Coordinate the contract assurance reports for the monthlyÌýmeeting.

Ensure that theÌýcontracts, including risks, are actively managed in alignment with the strategic priorities of ICB & NHS.

To reviewÌýcontract performance and recommend remedial action to be taken. Identifying areas of risk for the ICB. Working with the Deputy Director of Contracts/Business Partners to advise and recommend how these can be mitigated. Documenting the advice provided as part of an audit trail/risk assurance process.Ìý

Provide detailed management and performance reports for inclusion in the monthly corporate reports for the ICB against key performance indicators in a format that enables complex information to be easily understood.Ìý

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To manage a variety of correspondence on behalf of the CMT – including but not limited to provider enquiries; contract enquiries and ICB enquiries.ÌýÌý

  • Ensure deadlines are met for the production of information to enable the completion of statutory NHS returns.Ìý

  • Support the CMT in ensuring that there is patient and public involvement in any contracted changes to services with the support of the ICB’s Communications and Engagement team, in order to meet the ICB’s legislative responsibility to involve patients and the public.Ìý

  • Prepare agendas, take minutes, type and distribute notes of meetings;ÌýÌý

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of interpreting/developing/implementing policy in an NHS context;
  • Experience of managing NHS contracts; policy both at a national and local levels;
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of the Commissioning process

  • Demonstrable understanding of national targets & priorities relating to NHS care;
  • Good knowledge of contract management
