Join us as a Radiology Department Assistant.Ìý We are looking for full and part-time staff to work between the following hours;

Monday to Friday 0800-2000

Including some ad-hoc weekend work and Bank Holidays.

The department team currently consists of 23 permanent RDAs (10 full-time & 13 part-time). Vacancies in this area are rare and this is an excellent opportunity for you to join our friendly team of RDAs, porters and radiographic staff.

The role involves helping the radiographers and radiologists to deliver a high quality service to our patients.Ìý It can be a physically demanding job at times and occasionally emotive, with a mixture of clinical and clerical duties.Ìý You must be able to work independently as well as in a team, be a good communicator and have basic computer skills.Ìý It is advantageous to have previous health care experience due to the amount of patient care involved with this post.Ìý You should also have some understanding of what happens in a Radiology department.

Main duties of the job

JOB SUMMARY:

  • To work as part of the imaging service team assisting radiologists, radiographers and radiology nurses in providing a high quality diagnostic service.
  • To carry out all duties to the agreed standard in accordance with departmental protocols
  • To provide a high standard of patient care to include a diverse range of patients
  • To take a proactive approach to flexible working

Essential and desirable

Essential criteria
  • GCSE pass in English Language and Maths or equivalent
  • At least 6 months experience of working with the public, preferably in a caring environment
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Understanding of Radiology’s role within the NHS
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
  • Physical effort to frequently push beds, trolleys & wheelchairs
  • Ability to undertake daily repetitive handling & transfer of patients, with the use of appropriate manual handling aids
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 in Direct Care, or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a hospital clinical setting
  • Cannulation skills
  • Previous administration experience
