Job overview
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join our Recovery team on a permanent basis. Our Recovery unit, which consists of 12 beds, is located in a busy District General Hospital and provides care for both adult and paediatric patients immediately post-anaesthesia following various surgical procedures.

We are looking for an organized, enthusiastic, and motivated nurse with a minimum of 12 months of post-qualification experience at Band 5 level within Recovery, who is dedicated to delivering excellence in patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a relevant post-registration qualification and demonstrate a genuine interest in mentoring. Additionally, candidates should exhibit proven leadership and communication skills.

Our Recovery unit is committed to providing exceptional post-operative care and supporting a variety of specialties within West Suffolk Hospital, including assistance for Critical Care Services as part of the hospital's escalation plan.

Main duties of the job
In collaboration with a dedicated team, the successful candidate will assess patients upon their arrival in the recovery area and develop an immediate post-operative management plan. This may be either nurse-led or in partnership with the anaesthetist, ensuring patients are returned to their ward in an optimal condition to continue their post-operative recovery.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in recovery settings and will be expected to uphold high standards of clinical judgment, intervention, and decision-making, demonstrating a comprehensive level of knowledge and skills pertinent to the role.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities are essential, as you will be expected to provide guidance and support during clinical shifts. You should have experience in team management, coordinating the shift and department while ensuring the safety of both patients and staff at all times.
Working alongside the rest of the Band 6 team, you will play a key role in supporting and educating staff in the recovery department. Collaborating with the ward manager, you will help maintain safety and high standards of care while delivering quality services.
We anticipate that you will possess strategic insight and be able to utilize this knowledge to innovate and enhance both the immediate and long-term goals of the recovery unit.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý To provide clinical support, advice and education that ensures each individual patient receives a standard of care acceptable to the patient and within the agreed Department protocols and is delivered by appropriate skilled persons within the resources available.
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Promote consistency and continuity of high quality patient focused care.
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Assist and support Senior Nursing Team.
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Supervise junior staff and to teach qualified and unqualified staff.
