An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month fixed term SHO post in Oncology to join our Oncology team at the Royal Surrey Cancer centre in Guildford.Ìý

We are looking for someone who is interested in Oncology and passionate about caring for our ward based Oncology patients as we increase our bed base within the hospital.Ìý
Main duties of the job
Ìý
· ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The doctor will be supported by the lead consultant for the ward
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Be responsible for the admission and ongoing care of patients
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Providing diagnosis and treatment for all patients
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Order and organise such tests as are appropriate.
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Complete discharge summaries and communicate with GPs and other clinical colleagues as required.
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Demonstrate flexibility in work practices and cross-cover for colleagues on the inpatient unit as required.
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Liaise between nurses, physician associates, patients, relatives and senior medical staff.
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Attend and participate in ward rounds as timetabled
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Take part in full shift rostered out of hours emergency work (nights and weekends) when orientation is completed and competence assessed.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This is a 12 month fixed-term full-time position and in order to fulfil the responsibilities of this post you must be eligible with full GMC registration.Ìý

The successful applicant will be based at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, Guildford. ÌýThe post holder will work closely with the current oncology consultant teams to deliver a high level of care as part of the Royal Surrey Cancer centre.

The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist Cancer and Haemato-Oncological care, including complex Cancer surgery, to the population of the South West Surrey and Hampshire, a catchment area of approximately 1.4 million. Non-surgical oncological treatment for these patients is provided at the Cancer Centre, which is an integral part of the Trust. There are close links with surrounding cancer units and the Surrey Clinical Research Centre.

Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration
- MBBS or equivalent
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience and completion of competencies at FY1 level or equivalent
- Medical and Surgical skills at a foundation level
- Sound basic clinical skills

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
