Job overview

The Diagnostic Imaging department provides a wide range of services; completing around 20,000 examinations every month across all SASH Acute and Non-Acute Sites.

Using Lean working principles and the lessons learnt in the SASH+ programme, the Trust has also embarked to make efficiencies throughout the organisation engaging with all staff with the patient always being the main focus

The department is constantly in need of Bank PACS/ RIS System Analyst staff with the increase in demand and new projects in place,Ìýto help succeed with the increase in new and old tasks.

The PACS team is based at East Surrey Hospital and Crawley and works with all Diagnostic Imaging staff across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

It provides first-line technical support for the Picture Archive Computer System (PACS) and the Radiology Information System (RIS) for all end users, the transfer of images into and out of the Trust using the IEP system, and the management of all other radiology IT systems.

The team is also responsible for producing audit/statistical reports, building, updating, and maintaining databases, data, and business analysis, providing first-line training/support of the RIS/ PACS/IEP and any other system required; and ensuring the department alwaysÌýdelivers the best patient care, with the Trust Values underpinning all of this work.

Each day is unique in the PACS office; the PACS&RIS System Analyst will be involved in the completion of day-to-day housekeeping tasks related to patient images, transfer of images between UK Healthcare Institutions, supporting the Medico-Legal Team, managing stats and reports, troubleshooting technical issues, modifying systems as required under the direction of the Lead manager and providing high-level support for Imaging related to different projects.

The successful applicant would play a key role in the PACS team and would be required to work both as part of the team and independently, using their own initiative (when required) to deliver statistical reports, often with tight deadlines, and support issues in the department.Ìý They will be required to act as a department expert for Business Analysis, statistics and information and work closely with the Trust’s information and finance teams.

The post holder will need to have excellent communication skills, be able to work with dataÌýand manipulate it into usable information and an evidenced understanding of how their work impacts on others internal and external to Diagnostic Imaging.

The post offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced junior data analyst to join the team and further develop their skills and interest in Diagnostic Imaging.
